Open Wide

After 3.5 years (yes I know, #momfail), I finally took Addie on her first trip to the dentist.  In all fairness, I called around about a  year ago and couldn't find a pediatric dentist that took our insurance.  I got frustrated and put it on the back burner, and you know how that goes.  Anyway, we finally found a pediatric dentist we liked and make an appointment for early February.  Ad was soooo excited before they got started.  She was so proud she was getting to go to her very own dentist appointment.  Well, the excitement soon wore off as her overly cautious nature took over.  She did really great but was just scared.  Once I gave her a little mirror to hold so she could see what the dentist was doing, she did awesome.  The dentist explained everything to her and was so patient and kind.  Ad learned that she has 20 teeth right now and that she needs to brush in circles (she now corrects me when I brush her teeth wrong...haha).  Lila also had a quick checkup while we were there and to say she was less than impressed would be a complete understatement.  Luckily, the dentist said she could wait another year before having her teeth cleaned.  Whew.  All in all, it was a successful trip.

Becoming skeptical

The dentist painted on this purple solution to test for "sugar bugs".

This picture looks soooo sad.  She actually likes looking at it now and telling us she didn't have any sugar bugs.  :)

Brushing off the purple stuff

She even got her teeth polished and did so well once she could see what was going on.

All smiles

This was before Lila got checked out and the last smile she gave while in the chair.
