Father's Day

We celebrated Jason's first Father's Day this year.  He requested to be able to sleep in on Father's Day so Addie and I obliged.  We played quietly in the other room once she woke up, and then she wanted to go pick her daddy up some breakfast.  We had an appointment to look at a house we were trying to buy before heading to Laura and Harry's for Father's Day lunch with Jason's family.  We got home in time for Jason to watch the last few hours of the U.S. Open.  All in all, it was a pretty low-key day.

One of the things I love most about Jason is how great of a daddy he is to Addison.  She is one very blessed little girl.  Here are some pics of Jason with his baby on Father's Day.

I want to wish a very Happy Father's Day to my daddy as well.  I couldn't love him more and appreciate everything he has done for me.  I thank God constantly for blessing me with such a fantastic dad.  I also can't let Father's Day pass without remembering Jason's dad.  We miss Howard on more than just Father's Day, but it's a special day to remember him and what a great dad he was as well. Happy Father's Day to all the dads in our life.  I hope you each felt loved and appreciated.

Mommy/Daughter Pics

A few Sundays ago, Ad looked so cute in her summer dress that Jason snapped a few pics of us before church.  I could just eat her up.  She totally and completely melts our hearts.

Movin' on Up

Jason and I had been contemplating moving Addie up to her big girl car seat for a little while, but after I hurt by back for the third time carrying her in and out of school in her infant seat, we decided to go for it.  She had just gotten too heavy for me to carry in that seat.  As soon as we got back from vacation, Jason installed her car seat in my car, and we haven't looked back.  She seems to really love it, and I think she is much more comfortable with the extra room.  Here's our baby in her new ride.  :)

10 Months!

On June 2nd, Addison turned 10 months old.  She is happy as can be and growing like a weed.  I can't believe we are only 2 months out from the big first birthday.
At 10 months, Addison.....
- is wearing mostly 9 month clothes and jammies, but we have started pulling out her twelve month stuff recently.
- is wearing a size 3 diaper.
- is wearing a size 2-3 shoe when she wears shoes although most of the 3's are still pretty big on her.
- still just has 2 bottom teeth.
- takes 4 6oz bottles each day.
- is drinking water really well out of her sippy cups.
- eats 3 meals and 1 snack per day.  She is doing great with finger foods and doesn't want us to feed her unless it is her oatmeal for breakfast or her yogurt.  She is pretty much over pureed food.  She eats lots of steamed carrots, sweet potatoes, squash and zucchini.  She also loves cut up bananas.  She eats lots of other fruits and veggies as well and even got to taste her first bite of chick fil a chicken while my parents were babysitting.  We have also given her a few bites of cheese enchalada, refried beans and arroz con carne.  She was very impressed and begging for more.
- got hand, foot and mouth this month.  She wasn't feeling well for a few days but recovered quickly and was back to her busy, happy self.
- went swimming for the first time this month and LOVES the pool.  She has been several times since her swimming debut and has a blast every time.
- spent her first night away from Jason and I this month.  She did awesome with my parents while we were away.
- is clapping for herself all the time and waving bye bye to everyone and everything.
- is babbling sounds (baba, dada and mama) but hasn't associated them to actual things yet.
- is still very clingy to her mama.
- is busy busy busy. It is nearly impossible to change her diaper or clothes. She flips over and is out of there before you can even blink.
-She LOVES to read lots and lots of books.  She starts grunting for the next one as soon as you finish the one you are reading.  It is one of the few times of the day that she will sit still in your lap.
-will walk when you hold her fingers and pulls up and walks around the coffee table on her own. She also pulls up on the couches and can transfer back and forth between the couches and coffee table easily. My parents bought her a push toy, and she can walk all over the house with that thing.
- is starting to try to stand on her own.  She does it for short spurts throughout the day but usually slowly lowers herself to sitting once she realizes she isn't holding on to something.
- has kind of reverted in the sleeping in her crib department.  She always starts out there but ends up in our bed at least 50% of the time.  We need to start working on getting her back in her crib for the whole night.  She has gotten spoiled with the king-size bed.  haha

Addison is a busy busy bee and a super sweet baby girl.  Jason and I are totally smitten with her and enjoying this age so much. Happy 10 month birthday baby girl!! Mommy and daddy love you so very much!

Amelia Island

The last week in May, Jason and I joined Dan and Monica for a little trip to Amelia Island for some R&R.  It was their baby moon and our first time away from Addie.  We went Thursday-Monday and had a really great time.  The boys golfed, Monica and I went to the spa, and we all laid around at the beach and the pool.  We stayed at the Ritz in Amelia Island and really enjoyed it. The service was fantastic, and I would definitely stay there again.  My parents came up and kept Addison at our house while we were gone, and she had a ball with them.  I'm not even sure she missed us despite us missing her like crazy.  Jason and I both were sooooo ready to come home and see her.
On Thursday, after checking into the hotel, we headed straight down to the resort golf course so the boys could play a warm up round before their big golf day on Friday.  Monica and I decided to ride along and enjoyed a leisurely afternoon on the golf course with our boys.  The boys finished golfing about 8:30pm so we just had a casual dinner at one of the hotel restaurants and called it a night.

On Friday, Jason and Daniel played TPC Sawgrass which was on Jason's golf bucket list.  They both said the course was beautiful, and they enjoyed getting to play somewhere that the pros had just played a few weeks before.  While they were golfing, Monica and I both had a facial and a massage at the hotel spa and enjoyed the afternoon at the spa pool.  That night, the hotel had 60's and 70's cover band playing in the hotel bar, and they were sooo good.  We decided to have drinks and dinner there and enjoyed the music and dancing with the sound of the ocean in the background.  Hard to beat.

On Saturday, we headed down to the beach and hung out for the day.  The boys rented surf boards and tried to surf for an hour or so, and we all enjoyed the ocean breeze and sand between our toes while sipping strawberry daiquiris (Monica's sans the rum).  After a long day at the beach, we headed up to our rooms to shower and rest before heading into town for dinner.  We went to town a little early so Monica and I could do some shopping before dinner.  We ate at a restaurant right on the water as the sun went down.  The service was so so, but the food, views and company was great.  After dinner, we walked across the street to the Salty Pelican to enjoy a night cap and watch the NBA playoff game.  Pretty fantastic end to a pretty fantastic day.

The town in Amelia Island is quaint and historic.  I loved walking around the street and browsing all the cute shops.

On Sunday, I woke up early and enjoyed some alone time reading on the balcony of our hotel room.  One of the things I miss since having a baby is having time to just get engrossed in a good book.  It was heavenly.  Later that morning, we all headed down and spent the day at the pool.  Jason and I took a walk on the beach together, and all in all it was just another relaxing, fun day.  Sunday night we had reservations at Salt.  The food was really tasty, and the service was great.  Because my steak came out 5 minutes after everyone else's, our waitress apologized profusely and brought me an upgraded glass of wine on the house, brought us a chocolate and lemon souffle and brought Monica some "congrats on the baby" chocolates and homemade caramels.  Definitely worth the 5 minute wait.  :)

While walking on the beach, Jason and I saw this little tortoise that lives in the sand dunes.

Missing our girl.

On Monday, after checking out of the hotel, we headed back to town to do a little more shopping and have lunch before heading to the airport.  We finally made it back to our house to snuggle our super tired baby at 8:30 pm (my parents kept her up past her bedtime so we could see her).  We had a fantastic vacation, but to be able to put my baby to bed that night was a sweet, sweet feeling.

While we were away, one little girl had the time of her life with her MiMi and Papaw.

Uncle Cale even came up for a few days.  This pic is blurry, but I just love it.
