Soon-to-be Skaifes

Back on November 16th, Jason asked Jenn to be his wife while spending a few days up at the lake, and she said YES!  We could not be more excited and are looking forward to them finalizing wedding details.  They are a precious couple, and Skaife already feels like family.  Jackson has started calling us Uncle Jason and Aunt Katie which we both LOVE!  Congrats Jason and Jenn!

Happy Thanksgiving

Hard to believe another Thanksgiving has come and gone.   Jason and I hosted Thanksgiving at our house this year with a combination of our families, the Skaifes and friends.  We ended up with around 20 people and had a feast.  We had a table full of appetizers followed by a whole gamut of Thanksgiving staples rounded out with another table full of desserts.  Everyone brought food, and it was delicious.  It was so great to see everyone and reflect on everything we have to be thankful for.  I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving with family and/or friends.

Cookie Decorating

Monday night we had a group cookie making/decorating session for Thanksgiving.  Deanna, Skaife, Jenn and Jax all came over after work, and we really had a good time.  Jax had so much fun and really got into the cookies which made it more fun for all of us.  We made various shapes of leaves, two kinds of turkeys, acorns, footballs and football helmets.  They all turned out really cute!  While we made cookies, the boys made us a delicious dinner of grilled red fish (courtesy of Skaife's fishing trip), potatoes, broccoli, fresh green beans and mac n cheese.  It was a great way to start off the Thanksgiving festivities.

Happy Birthday Baby!

Last Saturday was Jason's birthday.  He is now the big 31, and we had a great weekend celebrating.  Friday was also Connelly's bday so we got together that night with a bunch of friends at one of Jason's favorite establishments....none other than Bubbas....for a joint celebration.  We had a great time hanging out with everyone, and the boys caused quite the scene when Iowa State upset Oklahoma St.  I don't thing the OSU fans were too impressed with their shananagans.  haha  Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of the night's festivities.

Saturday, Jason and I slept in and filled the day with lots more football.  I made egg sandwiches for his bday breakfast as his request which we both enjoyed.  That night, I had made reservations for us at Vic and Anthony's for dinner.  Dan and Monica also joined us, and we all ate like kings.  The food was even better than I had remembered.  We started with a delicious crab cake appetizer as well as maple glazed quail.  We all ordered various steaks for the entrees and shared broccoli, mac n cheese, and au gratin potatoes for sides.  All of this was topped off with delicious wine and lots of laughs.  It made for the perfect evening of celebrating my hubby.  Happy Birthday Jason!  I hope you had a great weekend.  I love you!

Movember

"During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts. Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health."

AND GUESS WHO IS PARTICIPATING.........

Prior to shaving the 'stache.  Just my handsome, scruffy husband.
 Ladies...he's taken.
My own Tom Selleck

Skaife helped to organize the team and talked Jason into joining.  They have their own mospace page and have raised quite a bit of money so far.  Way to go boys!!

Oh Baby

Last Saturday was filled with babies, or rather babies-to-come.  One of my good friends who I know from A&M and EY is due to have a baby on Christmas Day.  They are waiting to find out the sex of the baby til it is born, and I can hardly wait!  She had a shower out in Katy on Saturday morning so I loaded up the car and headed out there to what would prove to be an eventful trip.  Apparently, someone decided it would be a good idea to shut down ALL lanes of I-10 out near Katy on Saturday.  I ended up stuck in such bad traffic I couldn't even get off the highway.  It was literally a parking lot.  I eventually ended up having to reverse down the on-ramp and finally made it to the feeder road where it was of course still bumper to bumper traffic.  Two hours later I finally made it to the shower.  We played baby trivia, and Shannon opened lots of sweet gifts.  It was so good to see her, and I just cant wait to see pics of her new baby boy/girl.  Congrats Badgers!

I had to sneak out of the shower a little early bc Jason and I had a couples baby shower in Cypress Saturday afternoon.  Baby Kinley is due New Year's Eve.  We are so excited for Harrison and Brandi and can't wait to meet their little girl.  We had alot of fun at the shower.  The boys participated in baby bottle chugging, and it was hilarious.  Turns out it is alot more difficult to get liquid out of those tiny bottles that it looks.  Brandi's sister made baby squares (similar to superbowl squares) where we paid money to guess the size of the baby and when she will be born.  It was so fun!  We all ate Lupe's which is always delicious, and I had what I would venture to say is the best piece of cheesecake I have ever eaten.  Congrats to the Smiths.  We are so excited for ya'll!

Nutcracker Market

Last Friday, I took the day off work and headed to the annual Nutcracker Market.  Aunt Sherry, Kristi, Patti, Deanna, and her friend Diane all joined in on the fun.  The crowds were massive, but I so enjoyed walking around Reliant center and seeing all the fun booths.  I bought a few things but mostly just browsed and snacked my way through the aisles....the samples are to die for.  We stayed most the day, and it was just a great day with the girls.  I already can't wait til next year!!

Kris and I enjoying our lunch and diet coke...you know you have an addiction when you are willing to pay $4.50 for a diet coke.  Ridiculous.
Blurry but the only picture I had on my phone from our shopping extravaganza.  I didn't have the heart to ask the woman to re-take it since we were holding up the massive crowd.
