Happy Valentine's Day

Jason and I have never been huge Valentine's people.  We are more cook at home and buy each other a card-type people.  I can see now though that Valentine's day with a kiddo is going to be so much more fun.  Addison obviously wasn't that in to the festivities this year, but it was fun to dress her up for school anyway.  I can't wait for the future of heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast, fun Valentine's gifts and school parties.  I enjoyed getting to spend Valentine's with my two loves and hope you were all able to do the same.

Cute heart wreath my mom gave me for Valentines.  You are never too old to get fun Valentine's goodies from your parents.

The night before V-day, I panicked that I hadn't done anything for Addison's class (yes,  I know they are babies, but I didn't want to be the only mom that totally glossed over V-day....turns out I wasn't so crisis averted) so I decided to make some super homemade cards for the babies in her class.  I had minimal supplies so the above was the best I could do.  Hopefully Addie was able to spread a little love to her friends that day.  :)

The card Ad made Jason and I at school.

She wore pink and red all week to celebrate.

30

Last weekend, I turned the big 3-0, which I think makes me a legit adult.  It was a weekend full of surprises and fun, and I couldn't have asked for a better way to enter the next decade of my life.  My parents and Cale had planned to come up for the weekend, but I was shocked when Cody walked in the door Thursday evening.  He drove in from New Mexico to spend my b-day weekend with me.  Such a great brother.  On Friday morning, my mom made us all breakfast, and the boys headed out for a round of golf in the gorgeous weather.  They then informed me that my sweet sister-in-law Brittany was flying in that afternoon to spend the weekend with us as well.  Another great surprise.  We had some friends and family over Friday evening, and my parents cooked a super yummy meal.  My dad grilled every kind of meat imaginable, and my mom made sides and dessert.  YUM.  Saturday morning, Monica took Addie's 6-month pictures downtown so my mom, Brittany and I spent the morning acting like clowns trying to get some smiles.  That evening, my parents babysat so Jason and I could go out to dinner with some friends baby-free.  They even kept Addie with them over night so I could get a full night's sleep....best gift ever!  We had dinner at Capital Grill, and everything was soooo good.  They brought champagne and dessert for the table and really made the evening feel special.  Mom made another yummy breakfast on my actual b-day before everyone had to head back home.  It was such a fantastic weekend with my family.  Thanks everyone for making me feel so loved.

Great things come in little boxes.

For my 30th bday, Jason gave me another band for my wedding ring.  #besthusbandever

Meeting Layne

A few weekends ago, Jason was playing in a golf tournament so Addison and I decided to drive over to College Station to finally meet Layne.  We were planning to go over the Christmas holidays, but Addie and I both got a cold so had to cancel.  Layne is so sweet and cuddly.  I am so excited that Kelsey and I have babies just a few months apart.  I know we will have so much fun with these two.  Callie and Macie were there as well, but things were too wild for pictures til the girls went down for their naps.  Thanks Kelsey and Charlie for letting us come visit and meet your newest addition.  We had a great time as usual.

While we were there, I was talking to Callie and said something about Addie.  Callie stopped me in my tracks and said...."Her name isn't Addie, that is Baby Addison."  haha  It might have been a "you had to be there moment" but it was so cute and made me laugh so hard.

Addison and Layne.  Layne is a big boy like his daddy and already looks almost as long as Ad.

6 Months

On February 2nd, Addison turned 6 months old.  I can hardly believe we are already half way to the big first birthday.  I asked Jason the other day what he thought the theme of her first birthday party should be, and he just looked at me like I had lost my mind.  haha  I am loving this age and soaking up each month with our precious baby girl.

Weight:  15 lbs 9.6 oz  (~40th percentile)
Height:  26 inches  (~60th percentile)
Head:  16.5 inches  (~35th percentile)

At 6 months, Addison.....
- is wearing 6 month clothes and jammies, but several of her 6 month pants are starting to look like capris.
- is wearing a size 2 diaper.
- is wearing a size 1 or 2 shoe when she wears shoes.
- is nursing anywhere in the range of every 2-4 hours during the day (when she is with me) and takes 3-4 6oz bottles during the day when she is at school.
- is holding her bottle by herself.  Her teachers put her in the bouncer next to them, and she feeds herself.
- took her first bit of formula this month.  I just couldn't keep up pumping enough milk for 4 6oz bottles.  I took it a little hard at first but then realized you can only do so much.  She takes one bottle that is 4 oz of formula and 2 oz of breastmilk per day at school.  The other bottles are all breastmilk so far.
- has started eating solids twice a day (breakfast and lunch).  So far she has had rice cereal, oatmeal, peaches, carrots, squash, avacado and sweet peas.  I'm sure the list will grow drastically in the next month.
-is sitting really well.  She rarely topples over unless she lunges for a toy out of reach.
- is playing really well with her toys.  Right now her favorites are her Sophie the giraffe, this Baby Einstein toy that lights up and plays music and the play gym toy that Santa brought her.
- is scooting and moving to get to her toys.  I can tell she wants to crawl so bad.  She lays on her belly and does the worm to scoot where she wants to go.  She also does 360's all the time which is so funny.
-is such a wiggle worm.  She loves to stand and roll and squirm around in your arms.
- laughs and smiles all the time which is one of my very favorite things.
- burries her head in my shoulder when she gets shy or flirty.
- has started reaching for me when someone else is holding her, and I'm nearby.
- usually starts the night sleeping in her crib and ends the night in our room.  Baby steps.  :)  She mostly sleeps on her back (still with her arms above her head) but occasionally flips herself to her belly and sleeps that way (with her hands up by her face....it's so cute).
- likes to read books and really pays attention for 2-3 short books. We read every night before bed and other times throughout the day when I am at home.

Happy 6 month birthday baby girl!! Mommy and daddy love you so very much!
