Open Wide

After 3.5 years (yes I know, #momfail), I finally took Addie on her first trip to the dentist.  In all fairness, I called around about a  year ago and couldn't find a pediatric dentist that took our insurance.  I got frustrated and put it on the back burner, and you know how that goes.  Anyway, we finally found a pediatric dentist we liked and make an appointment for early February.  Ad was soooo excited before they got started.  She was so proud she was getting to go to her very own dentist appointment.  Well, the excitement soon wore off as her overly cautious nature took over.  She did really great but was just scared.  Once I gave her a little mirror to hold so she could see what the dentist was doing, she did awesome.  The dentist explained everything to her and was so patient and kind.  Ad learned that she has 20 teeth right now and that she needs to brush in circles (she now corrects me when I brush her teeth wrong...haha).  Lila also had a quick checkup while we were there and to say she was less than impressed would be a complete understatement.  Luckily, the dentist said she could wait another year before having her teeth cleaned.  Whew.  All in all, it was a successful trip.

Girl's Weekend, Mud Bugs and the Broncos

The first weekend in February, my mom had a girl's weekend planned in Houston with her high school girlfriends so she and my dad headed into town for the weekend.  It was a fun-filled weekend as documented below: 

I had a doctor's appointment on Friday morning so mom and I dropped the girls at school, and then I dropped her off in Highland Village to meet up with her friends before heading to the doctor.  Dad and I then met up with some great family friends for lunch.

Since the girls were already at school, Dad and I decided to spend the afternoon just the two of us.  We never get to do that, and it was sooo nice.  The weather was fantastic, and we just ran some errands and enjoyed each other's company.  I wanted to run by Kendra Scott to use my 50% birthday coupon and bought myself this cute bracelet.

Then, because I have the sweetest dad in the whole world, he bought me this little treat as an early birthday/Valentine's Day gift.  You never get too old to enjoy sweet surprises from your Daddy.  That evening, we all headed to Pappadeaux for a yummy dinner to cap off the day.

Saturday afternoon, we  had a small, impromptu crawfish boil with a few friends.  Again, the weather could not have been more perfect, and we had a blast hanging out outside.

It was great getting to catch up with them for a bit.

Sunday afternoon, we headed over to the Skaife's to watch the Broncos clench the Super Bowl.  Well, most people watched them clench the title.  I watched until half time, and then headed home to bathe the girls and get them in bed.  :)  Such is life as a momma.

We had a fantastic weekend full of family, friends, food and lots of fun!

January Update

One weekend, we headed over to a big empty school parking lot and met up with Ad's friend Wyatt so they could ride their cars together.  They had an absolute blast!

Jason and I got a babysitter one weekend and headed out to see Charlie Robison play and do a little dancing.  We had such a great time....unfortunately, we didn't have a babysitter for the next morning.  whomp whomp

Dad had surgery on his shoulder in January.  It was a pretty rough ordeal, but since I am a month behind on the blog, I can now saw he is starting to do much better and can hopefully see the light at the end of the recovery tunnel.

Jason took the girls to pick out a toy since Ad had been doing much better about putting herself to sleep.  They both came home with these unicorns.

We got together one night to celebrate Daniel's birthday by having dinner and cake.  The kiddos love any excuse to play together.

Addie has been learning about patterns at school and LOVES making patterns.  I walked in one night to tuck her in and she had done this with her balls.

Mom got a new car in January!  I didn't know they actually delivered them with big bows.
