Parent's Weekend

In the middle of September, Jason had his annual Mancation to College Station to watch the Alabama game.  Since Ad and I were going to be home alone all weekend, my parents decided to come up to visit.  It was so nice to have the help, and we had a great time.  Friday, we shopped for new sofas for my mom and ended up finding some she liked so the day was a success!  I can't wait to see them in their house once they come in.  Saturday, we just ran a few errands and watched football at the house.  It was a nice, relaxing weekend and always so great to see Mom and Dad.

Too cool for school.  Papaw was the hero because he would take her outside to see all the pups walking around the neighborhood.

Wigin' Out

Somehow life has just been in the way lately, and I have totally fallen off the blog wagon.  Getting so far behind causes a lot of stress for my type-A personality, but hopefully I can just do a few quick posts and get caught up to present day life.

Back at the beginning of September, I headed to Galveston for my first girl's-only weekend since Addie was born for one of my best friend's bachelorette party.  We rented this really great, old house and had the best time just hanging with the girls.  The house had a small pool in the backyard so we lounged by the pool Friday night and all day Saturday before heading out for dinner and a night on the town.  Cianne, planned such a fun weekend for Melissa, and it was so great to just enjoy some carefree girl time.

Saturday night, we all wore wigs (or hot pink extensions in my case) for our night on the town.  It went along with the theme for the weekend and ended up being really fun and causing lots of attention without all the traditional bachelorette garb.

Meanwhile, while I was enjoying a weekend away, Jason took Addie down to the lake to hang out with his fam.  They both had a great time, and I don't think ever even realized I was gone.  Addie got tons of attention from her Aunt Jenn and Nana and loved going up and down the stairs to the backyard.

Ahoy It's a Boy!!

A few weekends ago, Brandi, Katy and I hosted a baby shower for Dan, Monica and Baby Boy Rohling.  Katy's mom was kind enough to let us use her awesome backyard for our nautical-themed shower.  Despite the weather being HOT, we had a great time eating, drinking and celebrating the newest mini-addition to our group of friends.  Once the official shower festivities were over, we all jumped in the pool to cap off the evening.  Overall, I would say the shower was a huge success and good time was had by all.  I can't wait to meet baby Rohling and snuggle that sweet boy.  Congrats Dan and Monica on your official entry into parenthood!!

We had a large boat set up to house all the gifts

Katy's mom made this adorable diaper cake for the entry table

We had people write messages to the Rohling to roll up and put in the bottle

Caterpillars

After wrapping her year in the Kitten's class, Addie moved on to join the Caterpillars.  All 7 of the kids from the Kittens plus 5 new ones are in her class this year.  Addison has always loved school and been so happy to go so I was a bit surprised she had a TOUGH first week.  They said she cried most of the day for the first week.  :(  Soooo unlike her.  It was breaking my heart to leave her each day. I was just about ready to throw in the towel and quit work, but we survived.  To her credit, she had to endure a ton of change.  She went from having 3 bottles and 2 naps in her crib each day to all of a sudden having to drink milk from her sippy cup (which she still isn't a fan of) and only have 1 afternoon nap a day on her cot on the floor.  She had new teachers and a whole new environment to get used to.  We are just starting our 3rd week, and things have gotten significantly better.  She still cries a little when I walk out the door, but overall she is adjusting and doing great.  I know she will love her new class soon.  They have a fun curriculum for the kids (they told me she had a coloring project at school today), and she gets to go to the playground twice a day along with buggy rides, story time and many other fun, engaging activities.   We are looking forward to a great year in the toddler class and watching our baby girl grow and learn.

Visit to the Valley

After Addie's last day of school, we headed to the airport that evening to fly down to visit my family.  Addie's school was closed for in-service and orientation from Thursday through Monday and Jason already had a boys weekend planned in Louisiana so a trip to the valley seemed like the perfect plan.  Unfortunately, the weather delayed our flight almost 3 hours, but Addie stayed happy playing with her books and running around our corner at the airport despite it being way past her bedtime.  We had a wonderful long weekend in Harlingen.  Thanks Mom and Dad for always making us feel so welcome.

Entertaining herself at the airport

Thursday morning, we got up early and headed out to the bay to fish.  My dad took Cale, Tasha and I out to Port Mansfield, and we ended up having a great trip.  We ended up with a full stringer of fish and had lots of laughs.  Sarah was nice enough to keep Addie for me while we were fishing, and she had a great time playing with the kids.  Thanks Sarah!!

Tasha caught a big ole Jack fish that gave her a really fun fight.

My big red fish

I just love this one of Tasha's face when her huge black drum surfaced.  haha

Sportin' her huge catch

I caught the trifecta (red fish, trout and a flounder) for the first time in my life.  So fun!!  I credit my amazing guide.  Thanks dad!

Posing with the guide.  :)

Thursday evening, Dad took Addison swimming.  She of course loved every minute.  That baby LOVES the water.

Trying on the life jacket that was too big.  She wasn't too sure about it, but I do love the funny picture.

Friday morning we headed up to the farm to visit Grandma and Grandpa Johnson.  We spent the morning hanging out with them, and then met all the guys at lunch.  It was a great day except for Cale's car getting hit in the parking lot at the restaurant.  Sorry again Cale.  :(

Checking out the tractor with Papaw.

After lunch at the farm, we headed over to Cody and Brittany's new house to help them with a few things since they were planning to move in on Saturday.  We spent a few hours Friday evening and part of Saturday helping them get moved in and settled.  I can't wait to see pictures of the finished product.  I have no doubt Britt has the house looking adorable.

Busy girl carrying her keys and talking on the phone.  haha

Friday evening, Cale and Dad took Addie swimming again.  That poor baby gets no attention.  :)

Sunday morning breakfast before we headed to church.

I don't know how I made it through the entire weekend without one picture of my mom (or Cody or Britt for that matter).  I promise they were there.  I am already anxious to get back down to Harlingen for another visit.  We always have the best time seeing family.  Love y'all!!
