Happy 1st Birthday Addison

Even though Addison had no idea it was her birthday this year, I was bound and determined to take her to do something special on her big day.  Jason and I and my parents took Addie to the Children's Museum for the first time for her birthday.  They had a tot spot upstairs for kids 3 and under, and Addie LOVED it.  She ran around playing at all the different exhibits and just had a ball.  She played hard the whole 2 hours we were there.  Needless to say, we will definitely be going back.  When we left the museum, my dad treated us all to a yummy birthday dinner at Lupes.  Jason and I are so incredibly grateful that God gave us Addison, and we had a wonderful day celebrating her first year of life.  Happy Birthday baby girl.  We love you!

They made us wear these silly coverings over our shoes to keep the floor clean in the kids area.  haha

Addie loved this beach ball soooo much.  She would throw it and chase it all over.  My dad of course went to the store the next morning and bought her one to have at home.

Enjoying some yummy birthday fajitas.

12 Months!

On August 2nd, Addison turned 1 year old. She is officially a toddler, and I just can't believe I am writing her 12 month post.

Height:  31" (~95th percentile)
Weight:  22lbs 9.6oz (~85th percentile)
Head:  18.5" (~92nd percentile)

Addison has grown so much since her last dr's appointment at 9 months.  She has jumped up in all categories and has gotten really solid.....prob due to the fact that she is a fantastic eater.
At 12 months, Addison.....
- is wearing 12 month clothes and jammies.
- is wearing a size 3 diaper and a size 3 night-time diaper.
- is wearing a size 3-4 shoe when she wears shoes.
- still just has 2 bottom teeth.
- takes 4 6oz bottles each day.
- chugs water out of her sippy cups.
- eats 3 meals and 1 snack per day. She is eating pretty much whatever we eat now and is a great eater.  She eats most everything we give her and really only dislikes potatoes.
- is a full blown walker.  She will follow us around the house and can even run when we chase her.
- Still loves the pool and went swimming several more times this month.
- points at things she wants is getting really good at communicating what she wants/needs.  When we pick her up from school each afternoon, she points at the door bc she knows she is getting to go home.  Our baby is getting so smart.
- will say mama to me and dada to Jason. It is soooo cute.  She loves to say mama and walks around saying mama over and over throughout the day.
-has gotten more stingy with her kisses, but we still get them occassionally and love those big sloppy kisses.
-is babbling and trying to say new words all the time.  She has some animal books, and I really think she can say cat and duck when we point to them.
- LOVES dogs.  She grunts and point and tries to bark when we ask what the dog says.
- is busy busy busy. She is constantly on the move.  She has gotten better about playing by herself with her toys.
-HATES being left in the room alone, even if just for one second.  She likes to be in the middle of the action.
-She LOVES to read lots and lots of books. She starts grunting for the next one as soon as you finish the one you are reading. She loves to sit and flip the pages herself. When she plays with her books on the floor, she will turn and turn the books til they are facing the right direction. Smart baby.
- Still ends up in bed with Jason and I each night somewhere around 2-3am.  Now that she is one, I know I need to make her stay in her crib.  It is just going to take some "crying it out" which I dread.  One day soon, we are going to have to take the plunge.  When she wakes up at night and we go pick her up, she points at the door to our room bc she knows she will get to go get in bed with us.  haha

Addison, our lives have been so blessed the last year with you in them.  I love watching you grow and learn.  I thank God every day for letting me be your mom. Happy birthday baby girl!! Mommy and daddy love you so very much!

Other July Happenings

After our fun fourth of July weekend, the rest of the month seemed to be a blur.  I ended up working a ton, and we had a few fun events sprinkled in as well.  I will just let the pictures speak for themselves.

One Saturday in July while I was working, Jason and some of his buddies went on a shark fishing trip in Galveston.  They had a great time and caught several big sharks.  I was soooo jealous but glad they had a good trip.

Since Jason had the fishing trip planned and I had to work, Deanna and Jim were kind enough to watch Addie for the day.  She had a great time swimming and playing with her Nana.

Also in July, Beth and Jim welcomed Miss Harper Kay into the world, and she could not be more precious.  I am so excited Beth has a little girl and can't wait for us 4 girls to make lots of memories together.

I went to visit Harper and her mommy one day during lunch.  I enjoyed those tiny baby snuggles so much.

One Sunday afternoon, we headed over to Harrison and Brandi's house to hang out and cook dinner.  Jason and Addie enjoyed a quick dip in the pool before it started raining.

Addie was wiped out after playing so hard with Kinley.

Another Sunday afternoon in July, I helped host a wedding shower for my sweet friend Melissa and her fiance Joseph.  It was a couple's shower but since I was heading into the office after the shower, Jason just took Addie up to Deanna and Jim's house to go swimming.  They had a great afternoon grilling fajitas and swimming.  Addie LOVES the water and swam for several hours.

Rest of the Weekend

The rest of the 4th of July weekend, we just spent hanging out with family.  The boys golfed, the girls shopped, we ate yummy meals, and Ad got to go swimming at the neighbors pool.  We all headed to church together Sunday morning before Jason and I loaded Ad in her carseat and headed back to Houston.  It's always hard to say goodbye, but we had the best weekend.  The good news is, Addie and I already have another trip in the books to go back and visit soon!
