Last weekend was Monica's bday, and we decided to celebrate with dinner at Brenners on the Bayou. The restaurant is rustic and gorgeous and has huge floor to ceiling windows that look out at lush landscape surrounding the bayou. It was beautiful. We had a long dinner with delicious food and lots of wine. We started the meal with bacon-wrapped, BBQ quail and crab cakes which were both delicious. The month of August is Houston restaurant week where alot of nice restaurants have set menus for more affordable prices. We ordered from this menu which includes a starter, entree and dessert. I ordered the broccoli soup which turned out to be an excellent decision. It was creamed broccoli with chunks of broccoli and bits of super crispy bacon throughout. We followed that with a 6oz filet that was perfection. Lastly, we all had dessert. Jason ordered the cheese cake, and I had the creme brulee so we could have some of each. The creme brulee was so yummy. It was served in a huge shallow dish so there was lots of crispy topping. The evening was perfect and filled with lots of laughs with great friends. Happy Birthday Monica!!! We are so glad we were able to celebrate with you.
