Zoo Boo

A few weekends ago, a cold front blew through Houston, and the weather felt absolutely amazing so Addie and I met some friends at the zoo for a morning of fun.  She loved seeing the animals and getting to run free all over the zoo.  I hope there are many more trips to the zoo in our future.

She LOVED this goat at the petting zoo.  She just wanted to keep hugging it.  That poor goat got LOTS of lovin'.  haha

Google Diagnosis

The night of Columbus Day, we were putting Addie to bed, and she felt a little warm.  We decided to give her a little Tylenol before bed to get rid of her slight fever.  She slept well that night, but when I went in to get her the next morning she was burning up.  We gave her more Tylenol and made an appt at the doctor that morning.  After a quick exam, it was determined that Addie didn't have an ear infection and probably just had a virus that she needed to wait out.  Urgh.  The next two days, she was completely comatose and kept spiking super high temps....some above 103.  She literally slept probably 20 of the 24 hours of the day.  I felt so horrible for her.  Jason and I took turns staying home with her over the next few days.

Finally on Friday, she was back to her normal self and enjoying life again.  We were so relieved. I went to give her a bath Friday night before bed, and as soon as I took her clothes off, I saw this......

She had a horrible red rash all over her belly, neck and back.  We hadn't noticed because her arms and legs were all clear.  I, of course, panicked and did want any overly dramatic, first-time mom would do.....consult google.  :)  After a few quick searches and comparisons of rash images on baby center, I diagnosed her with Roseola.  I had never heard of it, but apparently it's really common.

Symptoms
sudden high fever.....check
Runny nose......check
A few days after fever is gone a rash forms over the belly, back and neck......check

This is apparently just a virus, and there is really nothing to do but let it run its course.  The good news is, usually once babies have it once, they are immune from getting it again.

We are so glad our baby is back to her normal self and feeling 100% again.  I on the other hand am busy applying for my MD.  :)

Day at the Park

Addie's school was closed for Columbus Day so Jason took the day off work to stay home with her.  The weather was nice so he took her to a park in the heights we had been wanting to check out.  She had a great time, and I am dying to go back so I can see her play.  Judging by the pictures below, I would say she had a pretty great day with her daddy.

All Star Birthday

The weekend after Melissa's wedding, we celebrated our nephew Jackson's 7th birthday at a sports-themed party.  The kids played kickball and other games, followed by pizza and cake.  One of the basketball courts was not being used so Addie had the time of her life being able to run free.  After the party, we all headed to the Skaife's casa to watch A&M beat Ole Miss.  It was a great day spent with family and celebrating Jackson.

Mr and Mrs Wakeland.......and a few pumpkins

The first weekend in October, I had the honor of standing by one of my best friend's as she got married.  I could not be more happy for Melissa and Joseph.  We had the best time celebrating their marriage all weekend long.  After rehearsal, we headed to midtown for rehearsal dinner at an art bar.  It was so fun, and a really great party.  The next morning, I headed to Melissa's early for a full day of girl time doing hair and makeup and getting ready for the I do's.  Melissa was a beautiful bride, and everything about the wedding was so perfect.  Congrats Wakelands.  Jason and I wish you a lifetime of happiness and so glad we were able to be a part of your special day!

While I was at Melissa's house getting ready, Jason and Deanna took Addie to Kingston's 1st birthday party at a pumpkin patch.  They said she had a great time seeing the animals and running all over the place.
