Snow Day

The Mom's Club in our neighborhood puts on fun events for the kiddos throughout the year, and the last weekend in January was our annual Snow Day!  Despite the relatively warm temps, there was lots of blown in snow for sledding, an appearance by Elsa the ice queen and much more.  We absolutely love our neighborhood and all it has to offer.

Elsa!

Lila did not want to be left out and also took her turn on the sled.

The sled goes pretty fast, but our little daredevil loved it.

After sledding, they spent the rest of their morning playing at the playground with Jackson.

I love that Monica and I are getting to raise our babies together in the same neighborhood.

MLK Day

The kiddos were off school for MLK day, and since Jason and I both had to work, Deanna graciously offered to watch the girls.  She met up with the Skaifes and had a full day at the zoo and the surrounding gardens/outdoor spaces.  The girls had a blast with their Nana as always, and Jason and I didn't have to burn vacation on a random Monday in January.  Win/win.

Showering Melissa and Baby Reed

In mid-January, I helped host a baby shower for my long-time friend Melissa.  I could not be more thrilled that she will be having a baby boy this spring.  All of the hostesses were supposed to meet an hour before the shower to help set up.  I got myself ready, drove an hour to The Woodlands, miraculously showed up right on time, and when I went to the front door, nobody answered.  Odd.  I headed back to the car to double check the address, and realized that the shower was an hour later than I thought.  Awesome.  Since I had an hour to kill and was kid free, I put the car in reverse and headed out for a quick shopping trip to kill some time.  I ended up with this cute little leopard dress so I would say that my crisis was officially averted.  :)  We ended up having a wonderful shower for Melissa, and I am so excited to meet Reed!

Decided this dress needed to come home with me

I can't take credit for any of the décor (I was in charge of food), but Casey had everything looking so darn cute for this nautical shower.  She really outdid herself.

There were little nautical touches all over the place and everything felt really special.

The cupcakes were topped with Reed's "picture"

Melissa and Reed!

We each painted little blocks for Reed to play with.  This was mine.  :)

Meanwhile, back at home, super dad got both girls to nap together in our bed for several hours.

I just love these cuddly sisters

18 Months--LDM

On January 13th, Lila  turned 18 months old. She is a super spunky girl who throws caution to the wind and has a smile that will light up a room.

Height: 33" (~79th percentile)
Weight: 26lbs 8.5oz (~88th percentile)
Head: 18.25" (~50th percentile)

At 18 months, Lila.....
- is wearing 18-24 month clothes and jammies.
- is wearing a size 4 diaper, but we will switch her to a 5 as soon as we use up the rest of the 4's.
- is wearing a size 5 shoe and LOVES her shoes just like her big sister.
- drinks her milk out of a cup during the day but still takes a bottle before bed.  She will drink her milk cold out of a cup but will only drink it from her bottle warm.
- eats 3 meals and 2 snacks per day. She loves fruit (blueberries are her favorite), but veggies are very hit or miss.....mostly miss.  As soon as she walks in the door from school, she knows it is dinner time and starts demanding "snack!"
- RUNS everywhere and has so fear.  She loves to slide down the biggest slides (sometimes even head first) and wants to do EVERYTHING Addie does.
-Still does so well at school.  She never cries when I drop her at school.
-Can point out all her body parts.  She knows eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, ears, hair, hands, feet and belly.
- Is talking all the time.  Her vocabulary is growing each and every day.
- Can point out all the animals in her books and makes the sounds for most of them as well.
- LOVES peacocks.  She loves going on walks to find the peacocks in our neighborhood and requests her book that has a peacock in it all the time.
-is so loving and gives lots of hugs and big open mouthed kisses.
- is busy busy busy. She is constantly on the move.
-She likes to read books but can hardly sit still for the whole thing.
- She has loved her Noah's Ark toy she got for Christmas and will actually sit still to play with that for about 5 minutes at a time.  A record for her sitting still.
- Loves playing with her sister.  She follows Ad everywhere and wants to do everything she is doing.
-LOVES the swing, her new slide and being outside.
- Has learned to throw a little fit when she doesn't get her way.  We are working on that one.
- Sleeps from 7:45-8pm to somewhere in the range of 5:45-6:45am and takes about a 45 minute to an hour afternoon nap per day.  She loves going to bed at night.  As soon as her bath is over she gets so excited and starts chanting night-night.
- has a smile that can light up the room.
Lila, you keep us so busy and make us laugh all the time.  Your sweet dimples just melt my heart.  You ADORE your sister, and we are all blessed you are part of our family.  I love you more than you will ever be able to imagine baby girl.

Deb and Drew Come to Town

Well, apparently I have done it yet again.  I get so behind on the blog, and then just picture dump to get caught up since this is my one and only scrapbook of my kiddos.  The first weekend in January, Deb and Drew came to town.  Drew went hunting with Jim so Deanna and Deb joined us for a morning at the zoo.  We had a great day, and the girls loved getting to spend some time with Aunt Deb.

Ad loves all the statues at the zoo and always requests to have her picture taken with each and every one.

My girls!

Red-headed buddies

After the zoo, these sweet sisters went cruising in their jeep

Saturday, the girls went to 2 b-day parties while Jason went to the Texans game.  It was a full day, but the girls had a blast.

This was our first time to go to Wonderwild, and the girls were over the moon about all there was to do.

I got a workout, helping Lila up to the top each time to slide.  That girl doesn't have a cautious bone in her body.

Sunday afternoon, we headed over to Jenn's house for lunch to celebrate Grandpa George's bday.

It was a busy busy weekend, but we had a great time with friends and family.
