Rohling Wedding Weekend

Last Friday morning Jason and I headed to New Orleans for Dan and Monica's wedding weekend.  When we arrived the cab dropped me directly at Cafe Adelaide where Monica was hosting a lunch for the bridesmaids.  It was so fun and the food was yummy.  I had a bowl of turtle soup and a spinach salad.  After lunch, we had a few hours at the hotel before changing and heading across the street to the church for rehearsal.  Dan and Monica were married at Immaculate Conception Cathedral and it was so beautiful.  While at rehearsal I received an email that our flight on Sunday had been cancelled.  Lovely.  I spent the rest of the evening trying to get through to Continental and finally after midnight I got us on a new flight home.  Crisis averted.  Rehearsal dinner was at Palace Cafe.  The food was so fantastic.  They  had passed hors d'oevres of shrimp remoulade and duck egg rolls when we arrived.  For dinner, everyone received a crab cheesecake appetizer, a choice between salad or turtle soup, a choice between a filet or fish and white chocolate bread pudding for dessert.  I felt like I should be rolled out after dinner.  We all headed to Pat O'briens on Bourbon street after dinner for a little while before heading back to the hotel.  Saturday was a busy day of getting ready for the wedding, pictures, ceremony and reception.  The reception was held at the security center downtown.  Everything was beautiful, and we had a great time all weekend.  Congratulations to our good friends The Rohlings.  Welcome to married life!  We love ya'll.

Cheers to Marriage

Saturday night I attended a small wedding shower for my boss at my co-worker Deepa's home.  We had all kinds of yummy appetizers and lots of laughs.  We were having such a good time, we all ended up hanging out til after 11pm.  Congrats to Jena and Adam!  Looking forward to the wedding in a few weeks.

Last Flings before the Rings

Last weekend we celebrated with Daniel and Monica as their days of being single are quickly coming to an end. The boys headed to Vegas and the girls headed to New Orleans for a weekend of fun. I don't have many pictures from the boys trip (surprise surprise) but they claim they all behaved themselves and had a really great time. I know Jason enjoyed getting to hang out with friends he hadn't seen in a long time. Monica, Katy and I drove up to New Orleans Friday and arrived in time for a late dinner. We then all headed out to Bourbon street for some fun. Saturday we had brunch at Stanley's, a small restaurant on Jackson square. We had Monica's lingerie shower at the hotel follwed by dinner at Drago's and then headed out for more fun. We ended the weekend with brunch on Sunday at the Ruby Slipper before making the 6 hour trek back home. It was a fun weekend with friends, but it felt great to be home and back in our own bed last night. Congrats Dan and Monica! We can't wait for the big day in just a few short weeks!!

Road Trip!

The weekend of the bachelorette party was the "red dress run" in New Orleans. Guys and girls alike dress in crazy red dresses and run in a race in the French quarter and then apparently bar hop the rest of the day. We saw so many CRAZY outfits. This guy was waiting outside the same place we had brunch so we snapped a quick pic with him.

This is the church where Dan and Monica will tie the knot.

Saturday night out on the town.

We are dinner at Drago's. They are famous for this char-grilled oysters. I am not a huge oyster fan, but I have to say these were delicious.

I love the Cat's Meow. The karaoke was so fun.

What's a bachelorette party without a pic with the Bourbon Street policeman.

Wedding Showers

I rarely participate in blog link ups but this this one would be a fun stroll down memory lane.  Kelly's Korner is talking about wedding showers today, and I am sure there will be lots of fun ideas.

I love couple's showers, and recently I hosted one for one of our best couple friends.  Since it was in the summer, we did a beach inspired shower.

I made homemade iced sugar cookies in various beachy shapes that you can see displayed on a white tray below.

Sign-in table.  We had the guests sign a New Orlean's coffee table book since the wedding will be in New Orleans.

 Mini key lime pies

We served pork tenderloin, salad, stuffed mushrooms, a shrimp and crab mold, shrimpo de gallo and marinated cheese

Last summer I also hosted a bridal shower for my precious sister-in-law.
I used my crystal for this since it was all girls and a smaller crowd.

I loved all the bright colors on the food table.  We did a more traditional bridal shower menu with fruit, muffins, chicken salad finger sandwiches, marinated cheese, and homemade sugar cookies (This time to match the flowers on the invitations).

Me, the beautiful bride, and other hostess Patti

I had many beautiful wedding showers that were hosted for my husband and I as well.  I wish I could share all of the pictures but this post would probably be a mile long.  I am excited to see everyone else's ideas to steal use in the future!
