Pinot's Palette

BMC just wrapped up the end to their fiscal year which means that our accounting team is coming off of our busiest time of the year.  As a thank you, our Assistant Controller planned a fun, end-of-year celebration at Pinot's Palette on a Thursday afternoon.  We had wine and appetizers while the instructor gave us guidelines to paint a piece entitled "Whimsical Fall".  We each received our own canvas, brushes, and paint.  As we are all accountants and stereotypically lacking in artisitic abilities, we were all quite nervous going in.  Our instructor was great, and I have to say much to our surprise everyone's paintings really did turn out great.  We had an absolute blast listening to 80's music and painting the afternoon away.  It was a great idea for a party and a fantastic way to wrap up the end of a busy few months.  Thanks Caroline for organizing such a great event.

Alithea hard at work.  We started out the painting by just painting this yellow and blue.

Happy Mother's Day

I will start this post by saying that I have the BEST mom.  She has always been there for me 100% and has taught me so much.  It breaks my heart that we don't live closer and that we weren't together to celebrate her awesomeness this year.  I love you momma more than you could ever know.

We celebrated Mother's Day this year with Jason's family with a brunch at our house.  We invited Jenn, her boyfriend Jason, Jason's parents, his grandma Bev, and Donna and David.  We had a yummy meal complete with breakfast casserole, sausage pinwheels, my grandma's homemade cinnamon rolls, and a yogurt parfait bar.  We topped all of that off with mimosas and great conversation.  Jason and I are both so blessed to have wonderful moms.  They deserve alot more than one day of celebration, but I am grateful we could set aside the day to show them how much we love them.  Happy Mother's Day Mom and Deanna!!

Mulligans

The weekend after Easter, my parents came in town for a wedding they were attending.  They decided to stay with us, and it was so great to see them.  They didn't get in until late Friday night and left on Sunday, but we made the most of the little time we had together.  Jason and my dad hit the golf course on Saturday morning, and my mom and I hit the mall.  We shopped, ate lunch, and hung out, and it was just what the doctor ordered.  They went to their wedding on Saturday night, and then all four of us headed out to Mulligan's (a little par 3 course) for some more golf before they headed back South.  It had been several months since I had seen my parents so it was so nice to spend the weekend together.

Happy Easter

As I mentioned in the previous post, I had to work on Good Friday and til 7pm to boot.  Jason's family had already planned to spend Easter weekend up at the lake so on Saturday morning we packed up and headed out to join the fam.  We had a great weekend laying out, playing in the water, playing games, eating yummy food, and enjoying time with family.  Despite being out of town and missing church, I am so grateful that God sacrificed his son for our sins.  I love the Easter story and everything it represents.  I hope you each had a great Easter filled with fun and family and remembered the real reason we celebrate this holiday.  I didn't take many pictures over the weekend, but here are a few.

BMC Hole in One

Good Friday for accountants is not always so good.  We were still in the middle of our year-end reporting process and had to work a full day while most everyone else was off enjoying the beautiful weather.  Six years ago, one of my co-workers began a hole-in-one contest in our hall for those that have to work Good Friday to help boost morale.  He puts up $100 to anyone that makes the hole in one and another co-worker put up $20 for closest to the hole.  Nobody made the hole in one this year, but we all had a great time and enjoyed the short morning break before getting back to the grind.  It makes a world of difference to enjoy being around your co-workers, and I feel so fortunate to have the BEST team.  It truly makes me enjoy coming to work.  They aren't the greatest pictures due to the lighting in our hall, but here are a few action shots of the "BMC Masters" as it has been dubbed.
